Summer Holiday in the Zillertal
Hiking in Zillertal
The Ziller valley is a hiker's paradise with over 1,000 km of walking trails. From green mountain peaks through to glacier tours, there's something to suit everyone here. The attractive holiday resort of Hart is situated in a particularly sunny position at the front end of the Ziller valley and is completely unspoiled.
The easy hiking trail to the large and small waterfall in Hart is suitable for families with children and takes approximately 1.5 hours. From Oberhart, the road leads to a playground. Turn right and walk along the "educational bird trail", where you can learn about the indigenous birds. The trail leads you past the small waterfall and, after about 1.5 hours, you reach your destination – the large "Schleier Waterfall".
In summer, a total of 11 cable cars are in operation, which transport you up the mountain quickly and conveniently to the best starting points for memorable tours. The Spieljoch cable car in Fügen, on the opposite side of the valley, transports you quickly up to 2,000 m above sea level, where you can hike through alpine pastures amidst a sea of alpine roses and enjoy the magnificent views. It is well worth doing the day hike to the Kellerjoch mountain (2,344 m) from where you have the most amazing views of the surrounding mountains.
There are plenty of places along the way, like traditional mountain huts or snack stations, where you can stop and have a bite to eat.
